Recycled Resolutions

Christmas has come and gone and now New Year’s Eve is just around the corner. One of the top ten most common resolutions for 2010 was to “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle”. Well here is one way to say good bye to Christmas and meet one more resolution before 2012. Recycle your Tree! It’s a free service with three locations to drop your tree. Here is the link of the City of Loveland website for more information. Hope this helps: http://www.ci.loveland.co.us/index.aspx?page=1115

Christmas music is playing, the stores are packed, and the stockings are hung by the chimney with care…yup, it’s that time of year again. The holiday season is in full swing and though it comes the same time every year, it still seems to catch me off guard. There are gifts to buy, cookies to bake, trees to decorate, and parties to enjoy. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. How do we truly enjoy the season? Well, though it’s different for everyone, I took a couple of ideas that may be fun to take a look at.
1. Create a Gingerbread House with your family. This is more a challenge than anything. I was surprised to find some gingerbread house competitions and the amazing creations that won. Here are some images to aspire to. But the process itself can be great. Feel free to bring in a couple photos, I’d love to see how they turn out!

2. Check out Amazing Christmas Lights. Grab some hot cocoa and plan an evening to drive around and see some great light displays. The Greeley Grizwald house is one of my favorites. With over 135,000 lights all coordinated to favorite Christmas songs, this is one must see of the holiday season. Here is the link to the family’s website if interested. http://mike.btfh.net/index.htm

3. Watch a Classic Holiday Movie. Here are some great ones:
• A Christmas Story, 1983
• Miracle on 34th Street, 1947
• How the Grinch Stole Christmas, 1966
• It’s A Wonderful Life, 1946

Between the present wrapping and carol singing, I hope everyone truly enjoys this holiday season.

Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder

Women in Japan are not only changing their shoes or clothes based on fashion but now they’re altering their teeth. Through a process called “yaeba” women are paying to have imperfect teeth that include a “snaggleteeth” or a “fang” look. Even if their teeth are straight, most will pay for alterations. What could cause the fashion savvy country to change their smiles? Well crooked teeth in Japan are considered beautiful, youthful, and the imperfection of smile is more appealing to men.

While this may seem odd, the supermodel Tyra Banks also supports changing teeth structure based on the current fashion trends. While hosting America’s Next Top Model, she encouraged a contestant to widen her gap. Other past fashion models have also popularized this gap tooth look. For example, Lauren Hutton led the “gap craze” and was featured in Vogue Magazine over 25 times. Currently, Georgia Jagger, and Lara Stone are creating a new look within the fashion industry of a gap toothed smile.

We all have different ideas about what constitutes a beautiful smile. My goal is not to impose any set ideal for what your smile should look like. Rather, I want your style and values to be reflected in the mirror when you smile.
